Server Support For All Linux GNU Systems

Aerospace provides remote support for any Linux server systems, via the Secure Shell (SSH). The Secure Shell allows an administrator direct secure access to a remote machine.

If you installed or leased a server anywhere in the world and it became too much to handle yourself, then you have come to the right place for support.


Monthly Support

This service includes pro-active system management services, regular software update service, the provision of 24 x 7 monitoring and alerts service for system downtime/failure as well as access to our specialised consulting services (at standard time and materials rates). This service provides the following:

  • Systems will be remotely monitored on a (usually business) daily basis for basic system health, including: backups, disk capacity, signs of hacker activity and mail spools management.
  • Systems will be kept up to date with appropriate bug fixes from the published OS vendor errata.
  • Systems will have the operating system upgraded when appropriate. We will only do this with substantial consultation with the Client.
  • Operational problems with installed software will be addressed so long as problems pertain to designed software capability.

The Aerospace Server Maintenance Support contracts are currently priced at US $180 per month per Server.


Hourly Support Contracts

An alternative is to purchase a number of support hours per month from us at a discounted rate. We then charge you at the normal support rate of US $60 per hour if the agreed hours are exceeded.


Security Service

When we sign a new support contract, we do a system sweep, to see what we are up against. This includes:

  • Network port scan
  • Rootkit scan
  • System Log scan

Any problems encountered will be repaired. We will also keep a continuous watch on the system logs for the first month of operation to look for suspicious activity.

If you are only interested in a security sweep of a server and do not want a maintenance agreement, then we can help you at $90 per hour. A check and repair session typically takes about 4 hours.


Backup Service

Server farms typically offer a tape backup service, but if you are running a database, then some work needs to be done to ensure that the tape system will in fact back the data up, since any file that is 'busy' will normally be skipped. When we manage a server, we will co-ordinate with the data centre staff and look after this problem.

In addition, we also offer a remote backup service to copy critical data over the internet to one of our machines, to provide protection against fire at the data centre.
